The kitesurfing on Sal offers a good variety of conditions for all levels from beginners through to Wave sailing. Our honest opinion is that for learning to kitesurf in Sal is not the really perfect place but we offer a very high level of instruction to compensate for the slightly more demanding condition.

On the Island of Sal there are really 3 main Kitesurf zones; Santa Maria beach, Kite Beach and Ponte preta.

Santa Maria Beach : This area is where the Kitesurf Lessons are held as there is plenty of beach space for training. Further around the bay there is some easy waves for the novice wave sailor.

Kite Beach : Around 20 minute taxi ride away to the South East coastal area. The wind here is very clean with a good side on shore direction. There is a good area of reasonably 'flatish' water for improvers as well as for trying some freestyle tricks.

Ponta Preta : Is the most famous wave spot on Sal. This is only for advance kiters as there is cross off shore wind (prefect wave sailing direction) with no safety cover.

Center

Surf Zone Center provides professional and quality kite lessons and rentals. They update their kite material every year to ensure clients have access to the latest material for both rentals and lessons.

The Center offers kite lessons in 5 different languages. Their groups are small, 2 people per instructor, and the cost of lessons include transfer to other locations for lessons, if the wind in Santa Maria beach in insufficient.

Safety : The Surf Station excels in its attention to safety and ensures there is always an emergency boat rescue on hand!

Kitesurfing Equipment : Ozone Kites, Boards: Sol, Haze and Crazy Fly.

Note: Number of hours can change in relation to the size of the class. Kite Move on courses are only for people who have already done some kite surfing before. Average class size is 2 people per instructor.

Climate - Clothing:

This is a dry tropical climate. The dry season runs from November
in June, it is very dry. The rainy season from July to having

Shorts or light trousers, tee-shirt or shirt the day,
temperatures remain pleasant to dusk. If the wind blows
strong it can get a bit chilly at night, bring a sweater.
